Every year, the 5th grade students with their teachers nominate students who demonstrate qualities for the award. I was so moved to hear how they praised him for his outstanding character.
He was selected not because he is a straight "A" student or very athletic but because he showed high academic goals and demonstrates enthusiastic school spirit. He showed positive attitude towards classmates with patients and gives his free time to volunteers and stay with those who needs special care. He possessed strength of character and courage to do what is right.
The banquet hall was elegantly decorated and the food was delicious. Everything's just perfect for the occasion.
The IL. Principal's association's guest speaker encouraged the students to do their very best and never give up since there will always be obstacles along the way. Our physical and intellectual limitations should never be a hindrance to reach our goals and one has to be determined to work hard and do what is right for even if we fail, we start a new.
It was indeed a wonderful experience for us to be there with Raf and seeing other students through out the DuPage County being recognized for their hard work.
With Ms. Sieger, Raf's 5th grade teacher.
